The Review: Smashbox Double Exposure Eye Palette & Primer Water

A few days ago, I received a surprise package in the mail from Smashbox Cosmetics. I had been so excited to try out the legendary beauty label's new products (including the Double Exposure palette and Photo Finish Primer Water). Now, I'm reviewing the products I got, plus featuring another product I can't wait to get my hands on—

ONE // Double Exposure Eye Palette
via Smashbox

What it is: This neutral palette features 14 eyeshadows that transform into more intense colors when applied with a damp brush (actually giving you 28 shadows!). The set also comes with a mini full-exposure mascara.
The Review: There has been a huge surge in neutral eyeshadow palettes over the last couple of years, but I think Double Exposure stands out as some of the best quality eyeshadow I've used. I love how finely milled the formula is— rather than chunky glitter or dusty mattes, each color blends easily without any fallout. Plus I don't think there is a single color I wouldn't use (the darkest shades work best when applied with a wet eyeliner brush near the lash line). I would absolutely recommend this to anyone starting out a makeup collection (it is much higher quality than the Naked Palette, and offers a wide range of shades). Love it!

TWO // Photo Finish Primer Spray
What it is: Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer Water claims to provide all the benefits of a lotion-formula primer all in one spritz. Think hydration, radiance and major make-up setting abilities. Use this before and/or after makeup application, as well ask throughout the day to refresh your look.
The Review: One of my favorite parts about this primer is the fragrance— the burst of citrus is super refreshing without smelling artificial. I have been a long time fan of the lotion-style Photo Finish primers (and eye primer!) and still use those under my makeup. I think this product is amazing for setting makeup rather than using a cakey powder. I also used it throughout the day to freshen up even when I wasn't wearing foundation, and I noticed a huge difference in my skin's glow and texture. Two thumbs up for this innovative product!

FEATURED PRODUCT // Baked Fusion Soft Lights
ALSO— is this not the most gorgeous shimmer palette you've ever seen? It would look amazing on cheeks and eyes! Smashbox has consistently nailed product textures, especially when it comes to shimmery products (no chunky glitter, please!). As spring begins and I try to add a little glow to my routine, I will definitely be checking this out.

Thanks for the treats, Smashbox!
xoxo,
Ashley
