This week has been a crazy blur of homework, socializing and extra-curricular events. I took on some additional leadership roles this quarter so I have spent the last couple of days adjusting to a busier schedule than usual. While I'm still a huge fan of taking time to slow down, I will always get a rush when I check off all the boxes on my to do list.
But for the times getting everything done seems a little daunting or downright unpleasant here are a few tips to get motivated—
1. Move more: exercising has always been the easiest way for me to get a quick boost of energy and sharpen my focus. Aim for 30 minutes of cardio most days.
2. Quick write: sometimes I need to get all my thoughts out on paper, whether in the form of a to do list or journal entry. If you're having a hard time getting the mental juices flowing, set a timer for 5-10 minutes to write down all your feelings.
3. Hydrate: this is something we often neglect and hydration is so important for clear mental functioning and headache free days.
4. Stop checking your inbox: a sure-fire way to zap productivity is to get bogged down by emails, text messages and other social media notifications. Sometimes putting your phone on airplane mode for a couple of hours can decrease those little bouts of stress that come with a flood of emails.
5. Finish something: completing a task, no matter how small can give you the boost to complete something bigger. Get the ball rolling by checking off the smallest task on your list and then moving on to something more challenging.
xoxo,
Ashley
