Bare Necessities: The Only Beauty Products You Really Need

As much as I enjoy playing around with makeup and skincare stuff, there are some days I just don't want to put in the time to go through my whole routine. For those lazy days, and for girls who just don't want to deal with all the fuss, I've distilled my routine down to five easy to use products that will have you looking great in no time flat.

1. Cleanser is hands down the most important part of any beauty routine. It is important to cleanse skin and remove dirt and oil buildup that has accumulated throughout the day and night. I cleanse my skin very thoroughly no matter what. I first rinse with water and then use some cleanser to remove my make up including my eye make up (Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser also doubles as a make up remover). I rinse and then go back in for a deeper cleanse.

2. Immediately after cleansing, I apply my moisturizer. The closer you do this to cleansing, the more effective it will be in helping your skin restore and retain healthy moisture. If you aren't one for serums, eye creams et cetera, make sure you don't skip this step for a balanced complexion.

3. SPF + Foundation: I use a tinted SPF that has really light coverage on low maintenance days. I like Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua because it has easy to build coverage and also has SPF. I sometimes reapply it midday because of its SPF content.

4. A multiple (my favorite type is from NARS) is a creamy, easy to blend formula that is perfect for eyes, lips and cheeks. A bronze tone like "south beach" or "laguna" looks good all over and can be applied in a hurry.

5. Mascara is the one product I count on to make me look more awake and put together. A few swipes of a jet black formula on my upper lashes is all I need to head out the door.
