Year in Review: 2014 Favorites

I can't believe 2014 is almost over! Wow! This year has totally flown by. I've noticed my personal style has developed a lot over the last year, so I rounded up my favorite discoveries and am listing them here to share with you all! Everything from fashion to art to health, here are my favorites from the last 12 months:

Rag + Bone
via Pinterest
I have been obsessed with this London-meets-New York edgy chic label. The brand carries the best silhouettes featuring the best leather and wool accents. Plus, their jeans are to die for!! Check it out here.

Ankle Boots
via Pinterest
2014 was totally the year of the ankle boot for me. I bought two great pairs— one from Rag + Bone and another from LK Bennett (which are lined in fleece! eep!). Ankle boots add the perfect dash of edge to an otherwise dressy or girly outfit. I can't stop wearing them! Shop the look here.

Peels
via Pinterest
Moving into beauty, I have been loving facial peels this year. They leave my skin soft and glowing without the redness and irritation most physical exfoliants (read: grainy scrubs) give my face. I cut these Dr. Dennis Gross pads in half and use a little bit every night for glowing skin the next morning! Find the glow here.

Shoulder Length Hair
via Pinterest
Recently, I made the cut (ah!). I had been dying to chop off some hair for awhile and recently chopped off two inches and then another inch, leaving me with some seriously shorter, shoulder length hair. I am obsessed!! So easy to style (just add sea salt spray for some beachy waves and cute texture) and so flattering on rounder face shapes (hi).

Bumble + bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer
via Pinterest
Ugh this entire Bumble + bumble line is so good. I have pretty fine hair though so using a lot of oil makes things look a little gross, but I have been obsessed with this heat protective primer for the last year. I think I've gone through three bottles (and let me tell you, I am not a big re-puchaser). It smells amazing and leaves my hair silky, shiny and frizz-free. Get it here.

PF Candle Company
via Pinterest
I heard about the Etsy shop PF Candle Company through another blogger, but it wasn't until I saw the line at Urban Outfitters and smelled the sweet (and affordable) scent myself that I really understood the hype. These 100% soy wax candles smell divine— I love the sweet grapefruit— and have the most chic, minimalist packaging. I love to burn these when I'm getting ready in the morning or before bed. Buy them at Urban Outfitters or visit the Etsy shop here.

Coffee Table Books
via Pinterest
I am so into art and design books these days. I love reading them and displaying them. I have a few from the Met that are fantastic, but I added some from Assouline this year that are just excellent. My favorite is Anna Wintour's tribute to Oscar de la Renta. The book is stunning inside and out, making the perfect addition to any shelf or coffee table. Buy it here.

Mercury Glass
via Pinterest
I've mentioned a thousand times that I re-decorated my room this year. One of the finishes I incorporated a lot and used for all my lighting was mercury glass which has a mirror like finish. It is so elegant and really trendy right now, and I love how it reflects the light in my room. Pottery Barn has a great collection of mercury pieces that you can shop here.

Rifle Paper Co.
via Pinterest
I have been writing a ton of cards this year— from thank you to how-do-you-do, I think there is nothing sweeter than a handwritten note. In addition to my tried and true Crane & Co. personalized stationary, I have loved the youthful, floral paper I've found at Rifle Paper Co. From posters to wall paper to note cards, Rifle Paper Co. is the chicest stationary destination. Shop it here.

Art Prints
via Pinterest
I am totally becoming my art loving mom these days, especially as I've browsed for my own art prints for my room at school and home. While they aren't the real deal, graphic prints and gorgeous posters add a cultured touch to any room at the fraction of the cost of a real piece of art. You can shop my favorite prints at the Land of Nod or great posters at the Met Store.

Meditation
via Pinterest
2014 was a health roller coaster for me. One thing that has totally transformed my mental and physical health is meditation. I started meditating about two months ago, and I suddenly experienced more mental clarity, energy, better sleep, clearer skin and generally feeling more calm. I use an app called Headspace for 10 minute daily meditations that works wonders. Whether I need to take 10 in the morning or the evening, it is nice to know peace of mind is just a tap away. Download it here.

Vegetables
via Pinterest
Along those same lines, 2014 is the year I finally cleaned up my diet and started eating my veggies (namely, brussels sprouts). There is literally nothing yummier than these little guys drizzled with balsamic vinegar and olive oil (YUM!) or stir fried in coconut oil (double yum). I have been scouring the internet for healthy recipes, so follow my Pinterest boards for food and fitness here and here.

What are your favorites from the past year?
xoxo
