Add Some Holiday Sparkle

It's that time of year again: holiday parties. Between the eating, drinking and merriment (plus that super cold weather walking to and from the door), sometimes a girl has to fake a healthy glow. Here are my tips for putting on a good face.

The number one skin problem I have in the winter is dry, dull skin. And if I over-indulge a little the night before, my skin is not happy. Cue instant radiance: a water-light foundation that goes on like a second skin and a rich moisturizing cream with some shimmering particles. Stay away from powders this time of year (or just use them on your T-zone) as they highlight any dry flaky patches. Instead opt for a moisture and glow-boosting combo like the one pictured above.

For those of you who've caught a little bug leaving you with pale, sallow skin, try out a combination of a liquid or cream blush with a liquid illuminator. This flush looks natural and exudes health. Plus, it is easy to blend and buff, making it virtually foolproof even for beginners.

Tired eyes? Stick with an eyeshadow a bit lighter than your skin tone and then apply a pearl color to your inner corners. To make things look a bit more festive, *carefully* dust some translucent glitter all over your lids. The light reflecting pigments will minimize dark circles.

Heading straight from work? Add a coat of glitter mascara on your lashes for an instant pick-me-up. This will renew your old mascara without causing clumps from another layer of heavy product. Concentrate the glitter at the ends of your lashes for a brightening effect.

When your festive red nail polish chips moments before an event, the best way to deal isn't with more red— instead, add a glitter topcoat. This easily masks chips and adds a little extra oomph to your nails. Also, adding glitter instantly doubles the possibilities of nail color combos. A recent favorite? Gold + plum.

xoxo,
Ashley
