TGIF

Happy happy happy Friday, readers! It is an absolutely beautiful day in the Northeast, which has definitely lifted everyone's mood on campus. I read some great articles over the course of the week and am excited to share them with you today—

ONE // Wes Anderson Designed the Perfect Cafe (for Prada no less!!)
via CN Traveler
Anyone who knows me knows that I love Wes Anderson's films, especially Moonrise Kingdom. So I was super excited when I heard the legendary director had designed the cafe in Miuccia Prada's Fondazione Prada, which will open in Milan tomorrow.  His cafe, The Bar Luce, looks like it came straight out of one of the director's kitchy movies— featuring bright pastels and pinball machines. This is definitely going on my travel list! Read all about the cafe in Conde Nast Traveler here.

TWO // What Your Mani/Pedi Really Costs
via NY Times
This week, The New York Times released a highly-anticipated piece investigating US salons titled 'The Price of Nice Nails,' presenting upsetting (yet not very surprising) findings: nail salon technicians face brutal work conditions for little pay. While getting a manicure is a nice treat that I find myself indulging in perhaps a little too often, my mani costs more than just the $20 price tag— inexpensive manicures force many technicians to live five-to-a-room in tiny apartments while surviving off starting salaries of $10 per day. This makes me much more conscious of both which nail salons I choose to visit as well as making sure I tip nail technicians directly to ensure they receive their pay. Read the detailed piece here.

THREE // 'In Conversation with Anna Wintour'
via The Cut
I am a huge Anna Wintour fan— while she may come off as brutally honest and cold as ice, she has revolutionized the fashion industry with her impeccable taste and timeless sense of style. NY Magazine's The Cut sat down with Wintour (appropriately on the Met Steps!), to get a better sense of who Queen A really is (plus, they got the inside scoop on the newest exhibition at the Costume Institute). Check out the interview here.

FOUR // '25 Famous Women on Their Mothers'
via NY Magazine
Happy (almost) Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms out there! Another great NY Magazine piece, titled '25 Famous Women on Their Mothers,' pulled together a list of 25 quotations from over the years from famous daughters about their wonderful mothers. Read the article here.

FIVE // Product Pick: Philosophy's 'Help Me'
via Sephora
This week, I've been testing out a retinol that has been sitting in my beauty cabinet for awhile— Philosophy's 'Help Me." This overnight retinol treatment claims to banish breakouts and signs of aging to reveal a clear complexion— and let me tell you, it delivers. The key to maximizing this product's benefits is using it on clean, dry skin, as mixing it with water can cause irritation. Remember to use this at night only and follow with sunscreen the next day as retinol increases skin's sensitivity to the sun! Get it here.

xoxo,
Ashley
