June 2014 Favorites

June has been quite the month, filled with highs, lows and lots of travel. In fact, my travels continue tomorrow as I am leaving the country for a few days to attend a funeral of family member who recently passed away.

The transition period I am in right now has reminded me of some of the things that make me happiest, both during this month and year-round. From little things to deeper, more meaningful things, I have felt incredible support, love and fulfillment these past few days especially. Here's to a wonderful July!

Philosophy Lotion in Fresh Cream
In the summer especially, I am ultra conscious of putting lotion on in the mornings after I shower (and most evenings too). Not only does Philosophy's Fresh Cream body lotion smell incredible (I've only used it for two days and have received so many compliments), but it is lightweight and moisturizes skin so well. I just purchased the matching body wash and am looking forward to testing it out.

Strappy Tanks and Dresses
For whatever reason, I've never really been a tank top person. For whatever reason, I never found ones that fit quite right as they are always too big in the shoulders. However, I have started wearing strappier (think spaghetti strap) tanks and dresses that look great and keep me— especially when I can adjust the straps so they fit just right.

Sam Edelman Gigi Sandals

I am such a Sam Edelman devotee. The shoes are just so comfortable and come in the best neutral and metallic colors. The Gigi Thong Sandal is no exception. I have it in patent nude and metallic gold, and am looking to add a chestnut color to my summer wardrobe.

Nude Pumps
Life is short, buy the shoes. I have been meaning to buy a pair of classic nude pumps for a long time now and finally picked up a pair today! They go with absolutely everything and make my legs look so long. Plus, there is something oh-so-glamorous about stepping out in a pair of gorgeous heels. I am looking forward to getting a ton of use out of them!

Reading for Pleasure
After I came home from studying abroad, I got back into reading for pleasure (a review of the first book I read, #GIRLBOSS will be up later this week). There's something about finding a new book you love that is totally irreplaceable, no matter how many times you re-read it. I am currently reading The Goldfinch and love it. I have a few long plane rides in my future so I am looking forward to spending more time with this great story.

My Family (including my dog, Oliver!)
My family adopted a rescue dog a few months ago (he's still a 10-month old puppy), named Oliver. He is so adorable and energetic! I love playing with him and running around our backyard throwing balls for him to catch. He's also a great (and hilarious) swimmer! He has been such a great addition to our family. Speaking of which, we have recently experienced the loss of a family member and I have really appreciated being able to spend time together. Death is always a reminder of the importance of seizing every day, which is something I needed to be reminded of. Time at home has put me in a really good place and helped me come to peace with various upsetting times in life, especially over the past weekend. I already feel back to myself and am certainly ready to move forward with a renewed carpe diem mentality!

Happy Monday!
xoxo
